March Newsletter

Getting Closer...

Welcome to March. Spring is exactly 20 days away, just one more calendar season to go. 116 days left until the buses pull into the parking lot. Things in both the camp office and our camp grounds have been very busy.

With the huge amounts of snow falling, we had to spend some extra time taking care of it. Both lakes had a thick layer of ice covering the surface. The snow plows made some very large piles clearing the road around the cabins and up through the camp’s center. The weather is slowly warming and the snow is slowly disappearing.

The remodeling of the arts and crafts center is nearly finished. We have spent lots of time putting up brand new screening, along with new posts to help support it. The main room to arts center is going to look so different. Shelves are now repainted and moved. This made more room for your projects. There will also be some new tables. In April, our brand new kilns and pottery wheels will arrive. The Fine Arts Center Addition is now fully wired and ready to go. For those that like cooking, you’ll notice a new refrigerator and oven. Arts and Crafts will be even better than it was last summer. Pam and Sue are very excited for the improvements. You should be also.

Mara and Jim can’t wait to see all the changes to stage as well. We have made much more room backstage and changed the wall system. A new lighting and sound system is also in the works. It’s going to be great. Part of our improvements to the stage meant a new hockey shed for athletics. The shed is going to be bigger and will make it easier to get and store equipment.

All the field work completed in the fall is going to make our grounds look more beautiful than before. Soccer and baseball fields will perfect grass to play on. The snow kept us inside some of the days at camp. Many will notice new or repainted backboards on our basketball courts.

The office is busy too. We have made the camp menu with some tasty changes. Planned out some new activities and organized the classics. It’s an Olympic year, opening ceremonies and apache. It’s an amazing event. All the floats for Carnival are together. Have you thought of a booth for your cabin to do? We are finalizing plans for our out of camp trips, getting buses and tickets. All the great trips are back again, Ozzy’s, Dorney Park, Bowling and more. Color War is another event being planned now. Can you guess the break? It’s a good one. Keep an eye out for the…

Lastly we would like to welcome back Jessica Humphrey and Jeff Nelson. After months of planning and rescheduling they worked out another summer to spend with all of you. We have a terrific group of counselors. 2010 is going to be awesome.
