Hi Everyone.
We hope you all had a great month. There is so much going on at camp. We are almost finished hiring our staff for the summer. There are lots of returning counselors so there will be plenty of familiar faces. We have also hired a few new counselors for the 2012 summer. All of them are great and can’t wait to be at camp this year. A couple of them are actually younger siblings of counselors from years past. No other camp has family lineage among its counselors and campers like we do. No one will know who their counselors will be until the start of camp but it's going to be an outstanding staff.
The office is hard at work planning the summer’s activities. The schedule for this summer has lots of great things on it. We are putting together some new games, organizing the camp traditions you love and planning special events. Of course one of those events is Color War. If anyone has ideas for team names, let us know. We love hearing your suggestions. Should camp decide to use your themes, we will announce who had the idea when Color War breaks. You can tweet us your ideas or you can email them to the office.
Camp itself is going to look a little different, like it does every year. The dining hall floor is getting re-finished. The maintenance crew had to move every table and chair out of the dining hall in order to complete this project. The dining hall looks enormous when empty. It will look brand new once it’s completed. The floors in the office will also look brand new. We are also getting together the final pieces for the new backboards going up in the hockey courts. They are going to be nice glass backboards like the ones in Lumar Hall. There has also been great progress on the mini-golf course. Several of the holes are being taken apart and rebuilt with different materials.
These improvements are going to make the holes more fun to play. No other camp has facilities like us!
Everyone’s family should have received a packet in the mail filled with information. The packet had some things for your parents to read but it also had the forms for our Dance and Tennis camps. Make sure you tell your parents if you would like to join one or both of those specialty camps. Remember both may take place during Hobby periods or maybe a free swim. We rotate the periods to try and schedule the camps on different periods. If you like to dance or play tennis they are great ways to get some high level instruction.
Many do not realize this, but January 19 was the official halfway point to next summer. Though camp may still feel far away, most of the waiting is still behind us. Parents often call the office and tell us how much you are looking forward to camp. We love hearing that! No part of working for camp is better than hearing about what great summers you have. We can’t wait for June
